Roof rot from trapped moisture under foam
Why it happens here
Upper Norwood sits high and takes wind-driven rain on the south and west elevations. Foam sprayed directly onto the roof deck seals the surface, so any water that gets past the slates cannot dry outwards. Over a few winters the battens and rafters start to rot.
Our approach
We remove the foam, inspect the deck and battens, and check moisture content with a meter. Where rot has started we flag it early so a carpenter can replace affected timber before the roof structure is compromised.
